Dear Colleague,

I have attached below the latest newsletter relating to the 18th
International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm (Warsaw, May 2007):

In this edition:

1.Deadline for Abstracts

2.Discounts for Early Registration

3.Programme Highlights

4.New Features of the Conference

1.Deadline for Abstracts

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Monday 23rd October 2006.
The on-line abstract submission system can be accessed via the conference
website www.harmreduction2007.org/conftool/ . The system allows you to
submit abstracts of up to 500 words for oral and poster presentations, as
well as for the film festival. All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the
International Programme Advisory Group (IPAG) before the final programme
is
decided by the Executive Programme Committee (EPC) at its meeting in
December. All those chosen to present at the conference will be notified
shortly after the meeting.

2.Discounts for Early Registrations

The "early-bird" registration fee offers you a discount of 100 Euros on
each
registration where payment is made before 15th January 2007. To register
for the conference visit the conference website
www.harmreduction2007.org/conftool/

If you require a visa to enter Poland, please contact the Conference
Secretariat conference@harmreduction2007.org and we will supply you with a

letter of invitation to assist with the application process.

3.Programme Highlights

The programme is now beginning to take shape. The plenary sessions will
include "Harm Reduction: Coming of Age" - a look at the progress over the
past 20 years and the challenges for the future; "Harm Reduction and
Prisons" - how can HR be best implemented in custodial settings;
"HIV-HBV-HCV Treatment within a Harm Reduction Framework"; "Empowering
Communities" - what peer-driven models can offer; "The Role of Regulation
of Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco in Advancing Harm Reduction".

A more extensive outline of the provisional programme can be found at
www.harmreduction2007.org (following the link to "programme").

4.New Features of the Conference

One of the new features of the conference will be the "Six O'clock Show".
This will be a session in the main auditorium, at 6.00pm, with a panel
invited to discuss major policy issues facing the harm reduction movement.

One of the sessions will focus on issues relating to the UNGASS on drugs
in
2008.

The above is merely a snapshot of the activity to date and much more
information about the conference can be found on the website
www.harmreduction2007.org .

Kind Regards,
