Dear all,

I am searching for applicable readings focusing on the deployment
of international population policy, or international "assistance of
family planning", in East Asia, especially in Taiwan and South Korea,
after the end of World War II, and its relation to the Cold War ideology
that mainly the U.S. manipulated.

I have made a study on fertility transition in Okinawa focusing on
the politics of population and reproduction there under the U.S.
military occupation, 1945-1972. It is the theme of my dissertation.

The conditions of reproduction, such as abortion, contraception,
and childbearing, in Okinawa then were controled by the U.S.
administration and totally different from those in Japan.
More interestingly, while the U.S. played a leading role in
the implomentation of population controle and family planning in
Taiwan and South Korea, she forbit women from doing birth control
and family planning in Okinawa. I would like to discuss the issue
from the perspective of the U.S.'s Cold War strategy.

Any suggestions and information would be of great help for me.
