Subject: Summer Course in Historical Demography
Friday Deadline: Applications for the Longitudinal Analysis of Historical
Demographic Data Course this summer at ICPSR are due this Friday, April
28th. We have funds to help defray travel and other costs for most
participants (around $1500 US.). For those admitted to the workshop, no
fees will be charged. Applications should be made on-line at
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/training/summer. If you have questions, please

The course runs from July 24 through August 18, 2006 in Ann Arbor, in a
dedicated computer lab/classroom in the newly renovated Perry Building.
Mornings will be taken up with lectures on substantive topics in
historical
demography that are appropriate for longitudinal analysis, followed by
lectures on related statistical topics in event history analysis. In the
afternoons participants will learn to structure data appropriately and
apply
statistical techniques. There will be free lab time in the later
afternoons
with a lab assistant and lab access without an assistant in the evenings.
We'll also have guest lectures and social events in the Summer Program
